Most importantly, The Home School UK provides a central place for families home-educating in the UK to find trusted information and practical support.
A large part of this benefits from developing fruitful partnerships with Local Authorities across the UK to also support the officers responsible for Elective Home Education (EHE) and related education services.
As legislative requirements evolve beyond 2026, you and your councils are balancing increasing responsibilities with limited capacity, competing priorities and the need to maintain public trust on a personal level and within budget. Our role is to help each Local Authority meet these challenges without unnecessary addition to employee workload or hiked budgets, but instead through our grassroots insights, specialist knowledge, community engagement and practical support.
We recognise that Local Authorities have an important statutory role to play in ensuring children receive a suitable education while also building positive, constructive relationships with home-educating families and the challenges that come with that, so we're here to help.

THS Workshops offer a clear breakdown of legislative updates and community engagement training to support your EHE team's outreach efforts and reduce unnecessary workload.

We organise interactive opportunities to engage with your local EHE families in ways that build constructive relationships, open communication lines and develop trust.

THS provides reliable statistics and trends data about your local home education landscape to help you pre-empt concerns and plan ahead.
Putting support for families at the forefront

The Home School UK (THS) helps Local Authorities provide staff with specialist EHE expertise to increase workplace efficiency without stretching budgets. We support officers to engage productively with home-educating families through in-person events, provide meaningful analytics for future planning and share practical approaches across authorities that can improve consistency, overall service and job satisfaction (great for families, authorities and staff retention).
By acting as an independent partner with a professional understanding of both the UK home education community and Local Authority responsibilities, we help to reduce misunderstandings, improve dialogue and support better outcomes for Local Authorities and the families they serve.
Confident Home Education Starts Here
This year, 2026-27, we'll work with our first cohort of EHE local authority staff wanting to make their community engagement smoother, new legislation training simpler and work life as enjoyable as possible.
